- Q?Can you move my house plants?
- A.Absolutely. We typically use a box with an open top to safely transport plants.
- Q?Can you move my jewelry and other valuables?
- A.We do not move money, valuable papers or jewelry. We highly recommend that you transport these specific items yourself.
- Q?Can I keep my clothes in drawers?
- A.That’s not a good idea and we don’t recommend doing it. While chests and dressers do a great job of storing clothes, they are not designed to transport them and safely protect the contents inside. Please use wardrobe or linen boxes designed for this purpose instead.
- Q?Will Manor help me unpack?
- A.Absolutely. How much of your items we unpack is entirely up to you. At a minimum, we will unpack (or un-crate) any of your heavy furniture and place it in exactly the right location.
- Q?Will my furnishings remain clean?
- A.Of course! In fact, we typically wrap furniture with a heavy duty plastic cover or sofa cover before we layer it with protective blankets. Our special moving blankets are cleaned each week to make sure they don’t accidentally stain or soil any of your items.
- Q?How will you move my Plasma or LCD TV?
- A.Very carefully! In fact, if you happen to have the TV’s original box, we will use it. If you don’t, no problem, we will use either our special flat-screen TV wood crate for 36-inch screen and larger, or will protect your TV with special, heavy moving blankets and bubble wrap.
- Q?Why do you need to pack my mattresses?
- A.Because of their large shape and unique material, mattresses and box springs are more prone to scratches and soiling during the move. Many moves involve tight corners, small elevators, and low doorways that can dirty or damage typical mattresses and box springs. Because of our extensive experience in moving these items, Manor recommends using at least a mattress cover to make sure your mattress is not damaged in transit.
- Q?What is “crating” and when do you recommend it?
- A.Crating means either building a custom wooden crate for a heavy or especially fragile item, or shaping a custom cardboard box (and bubble wrap) when a fragile item of yours does not fit into a standard moving box . To better protect your items, we typically crate heavy, large or fragile items (like large standing mirrors, glass top tables and oversized TV’s).
- Q?What other materials will I need?
-
A.
If you are planning on packing items yourself (the best way to save money on your move!), along with moving boxes, you will also need packing tape and packing paper (or bubble wrap).
If we will be doing all or some of the packing for you, our crew will have all the materials necessary. Other than moving boxes, we do not charge for packing material, including tape and wrapping paper.
- Q?Where can I buy moving boxes?
-
A.
We offer a wide range of additional high quality, double-corrugated moving boxes should you require additional containers. Be sure to ask your Manor relocation consultant about our free Same Day Delivery service.
If you already have boxes from a previous move or would like to supply your own boxes, please be sure the boxes are designated for moving household items and are double-corrugated. Any less may expose your items to damage or loss.
